Community health worker (CHW) programs are one of the key pillars for achieving universal health coverage, particularly in terms of human resources. However, number of challenges hamper the effectiveness of CHW activities, including weaknesses in their integration and sustainability. To build on Africa CDC and partners commitments over the past two years, especially to promote integrated CHW programs and identify solutions to ensure and strengthen their sustainability in Africa. Africa CDC is organizing a Side Event on the margins of CPHIA to relaunch discussions on coordination and sustainable financing mechanisms for structured and integrated CHW programs in Africa.
