Dr. Githinji Gitahi, MD, is one of Africa’s public health champions leading Africa’s largest independent health development organization, Amref Health Africa, which has more than 2,000 employees implementing over 147 projects across 35 African countries. Prior to his appointment to Amref Health Africa, Dr. Gitahi was the Vice President and Regional Director for Africa at Smile Train International. Previously Dr. Gitahi held various senior regional and global positions including Monitor Publications in Uganda and GlaxoSmithKline. Dr. Gitahi served as the Steering Committee Co-Chair of UHC2030—a World Bank and WHO global initiative for universal health coverage is a Scaling UP Nutrition Lead Group Member, Board member of CEPI and Co-Chair of the Strategy Advocacy Committee of PMNCH amongst other roles.
