Dr Tamuno-Wari Numbere is an event-based surveillance (EBS) analyst at the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, where he leads the EBS team and coordinates the implementation of EBS in African Union Member States.
Prior to joining Africa CDC, Dr Numbere worked for over ten years as a surveillance officer at the Rivers State Ministry of Health, Nigeria, coordinating surveillance activities and responding to disease outbreaks. He also worked as a SORMAS implementation officer at the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control where he provided technical assistance and supported the implementation of the digital tool for surveillance and outbreak response in two Nigerian states.
He obtained his medical degree at the University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria, a postgraduate diploma and an MSc in Public Health in Developing Countries from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, and is a graduate of the Nigeria Field Epidemiology and Laboratory Training Program
