Fondation Congolaise por la Recherche Médicale: PANDORA-ID-Net: the roads for strengthening One Health agenda in Africa

PANDORA-ID-Net is a “One Health” network which has been established in 2018 through EDCTP funding for preparing institutions in Europe and Africa to build human resources and to develop health research capacities including clinical research to respond to infectious diseases outbreaks arising from anywhere. The baptism of fire has been done with Ebola in 2018, Chikukungunya (2019), Lassa fever (2019-2020), yellow fever (2020). The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the important contribution of all PANDORA-resources in the partners respective countries but also the gaps that need to be filled in the future. The African partners of the network according to their geographical location, have managed the epidemics using their own resources and the strength of the network, which has enabled them to find solutions that deserve to be shared. Non-invasive autopsies during the COVID-19 pandemic in Zambia illustrate this and this important experience that has been shared internally should be broadly disseminated. With new One Health initiatives arisen on the continent, PANDORA-ID-Net will present its new strategy for preparedness and actions to infectious diseases outbreaks.
