Dr. Christine Manyando is a physician and Public Health specialist. She currently works as a clinical research scientist for Tropical Diseases Research Centre (TDRC) in Ndola, Zambia. Her research experience spans over a period of 20 years. Dr. Manyando’s work over the years focussed on epidemiological and clinical research in Malaria. She has been a WHO/TDR temporary adviser for over 10 years providing support for quality management of clinical trials over the continent of Africa and also in Asia with a focus on Good Clinical Practices and monitoring of WHO funded clinical trials in Malaria, Tuberculosis and HIV.
Her research over the years has culminated in the development of new anti-malarial drugs, new ways of using old antimalarials drugs and lately drug development mainly focussed on Malaria in pregnancy for treatment and prophylaxis. She has served on several advisory committees such as the African Malaria Network Trust (AMANET), European and Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnerships (EDCTP), Quality Management Advisory Committee (QMAC) of WHO-TDR, Medicines for Malaria Venture Scientific Advisory Committee (MMV-ESAC) among others.
