Ms Bupe Sinkala

Community Health Worker, mothers2mothers Zambia

Bupe works as a community health worker for African NGO mothers2mothers (m2m) in Lusaka, Zambia. In this role, she provides health services, education, and support on HIV and other critical health issues, including non-communicable diseases such as cervical cancer, to pregnant women, new mothers, children, and families in her community.

Bupe has a deep understanding of what her clients go through after a non-communicable disease scare or diagnosis. Three years ago, she was screened positive for pre-cervical cancerous cells and she considers herself fortunate that early detection prevented the progression to cancer. With treatment, Bupe made a full recovery and now dedicates her time ensuring that her clients receive regular screening for various health conditions and are referred for further care and support.
