Ms Zipporah Iregi

Registered Nurse and Future league leader, Intrahealth International and African Union Bingwa Initiative

Zipporah Iregi is a Registered Nurse, Bsc. N. She serves as a switchpoint Future League Leader at Intrahealth International and a Bingwa with the African Union Bingwa Initiative. Zipporah is a challenge committee member at the Nursing Now Challenge.

Over the past 4 years, Zipporah has been at the forefront of advocating for the Healthcare Worker and Universal Health Coverage. She has spoken at several Nursing and Global Health Events including the White House Covid-19 Summit, Switchpoint Exchange, and World Hospital Congress, utilizing her platform to speak out about supporting healthcare workers to get fair pay, adequate PPE, and the investment in training, recruiting, and research. For her work and efforts, she was awarded the Global Nursing Now Challenge award for Advocacy and Communication in 2022.

She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Kenya Methodist University (KeMU) in 2019. Following her passion for nursing leadership and mentorship, she served as the 1st Vice Chairperson for the Kenya Students and Novice Nurses (KESNNUR), where she coordinated mentorship, leadership training, and professional development programs for over 300 student and novice nurses in Kenya. The program has now grown to reach over 2,000 nursing students in over 15 institutions around Kenya. She has worked as a Nursing Officer Intern at Kitui County Referral Hospital and as a Volunteer Nurse at Kerugoya Medical Center, where she was directly involved in providing Nursing Care to patients in different departments. 

Zipporah is passionate about the development of her community. She has been involved in various projects such as Sanitary Towel Drives, Blood Donation Campaigns, and COVID-19 initiatives – distribution of hand sanitizers and soaps to children’s homes and street families, and COVID-19 vaccine advocacy. She served as a County Ambassador (Kirinyaga) with the Global Peace Foundation – Kenya, promoting peace initiatives and entrepreneurial development of the youth in Kirinyaga County, Kenya. Zipporah was also crowned Miss Universe International Kenya 2020/2021
