Prof Abderrahmane Maaroufi

Director, Institut Pasteur Maroc (National Public Health Institute)

Professor Abderrahmane Maaroufi is a medical doctor, specialising in infectious diseases and epidemiology. He heads the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health at the Faculty of Medicine in Morocco. Prof. Maaroufi previously served as Director of Public Health at the Ministry of Health and then as Director of the National School of Public Health. Prof. Maaroufi has actively participated in missions of expertise with renowned agencies such as World Health Organisation and other international entities. He founded the Field Epidemiology Training Program in Morocco and has been honored with prestigious accolades. He is laureate of the 'Rising Star Award' presented by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, USA. Additionally, he received a scholarship of excellence by the Canadian Francophone Scholarship Program.
