Regional Adviser for Immunisation and Team Lead for the Vaccine-Preventable Diseases Programme, WHO AFRO

Professor Charles Shey Wiysonge is the Director of Cochrane South Africa, Senior Director at the South African Medical Research Council, and a Professor of Epidemiology at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Stellenbosch University, South Africa. He is a member of various advisory committees in the fields of research, vaccination, and evidence-based policy in Africa and globally. Professor Wiysonge’s previous positions include serving as the Deputy Director of the Centre for Evidence-based Health Care at Stellenbosch University, Project Manager of the Vaccines for Africa Initiative, Chief Research Officer at the University of Cape Town, South Africa, Research Officer at UNAIDS, Geneva, and Deputy Director, Expanded Programme on Immunisation, Cameroon.
