Prof Marc Mendelson is Professor of Infectious Diseases, and Head of the Division of Infectious Diseases and HIV Medicine at University of Cape Town, South Africa. His work mainly relates to national and international policy implementation to mitigate antimicrobial resistance, with particular focus on low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).

Currently, Marc is seconded to direct The Trinity Challenge on Antimicrobial Resistance, to be launched during WAAW 2023. The Challenge focuses on the use of data and analytics to innovate, integrate, and implement change in our understanding of AMR across the one health spectrum at the community level in LMICs.
