Health crises can emerge from a confluence of risk factors. These are complex, multisectoral problems that require a One Health approach. It is more likely countries will miss the beginning of an outbreak and delay an effective response in the absence of an early warning system.
This panel will discuss how to gather and analyze data for predictive modeling and develop infectious disease early warning system that combines epidemiological, ecosystem, land use/change, human behavior, and climate and weather information. This is evidenced in the USAID- Famine Early Warning System Network (FEWS NET) Health Threats Extension pilot activity taking place in Somalia and Mozambique.
