Abstracts were accepted across all 9 conference tracks for three kinds of presentations:
- Oral: Oral presenters will be giving live presentations during Abstract Sessions at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre in Lusaka, Zambia from 27 -30 November 2023. Visit the programme page for more details.
- Poster: Posters of accepted abstracts will be displayed at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre in Lusaka, Zambia from 27 – 30 November.
- Virtual: Presenters will be giving live virtual presentations on 22 November 2023 from 9:00 – 18:00hrs CAT [7:00 – 16:00 hrs UTC]. Register here to attend the CPHIA 2023 Virtual Abstracts Programme for free.

Application & Timeline
When will I hear if my abstract has been accepted and when must I confirm I will present?
All applicants have been notified of their decision as of 7 October 2023. The deadline to confirm participation for accepted abstract presenters has passed as of 27 October.
My abstract has been previously presented or published elsewhere, can I still submit it for consideration?
Abstracts that have been previously presented elsewhere will be considered at the jury’s discretion, but priority will be given to abstracts that have not yet been presented at any other scientific conference.
Can I make edits to my submission?
Edits cannot be made to an abstract once it has been submitted. However, in the event that your abstract is selected for an oral or poster presentation and has undergone significant changes after acceptance, those changes should be highlighted in the abstract presentation.
I missed the deadline. Can I still submit?
Unfortunately, no abstracts will be accepted past the official due date. We hope you are still able to join us in Lusaka this year, and we encourage you to submit your abstract for consideration next year.
Registration, Travel, & Scholarships
Do abstract presenters need to attend the conference in person?
CPHIA 2023 is an in-person conference with a virtual component. Abstract presenters are expected to attend the conference in Lusaka, Zambia if selected to give an oral or poster presentation.
Virtual presenters are not required to attend in person, although we also encourage them to join us in Lusaka for the in-person portion of the conference.

Are abstract presenters exempt from paying the conference registration fee?
If your abstract is accepted for an oral or poster presentation, your conference registration fee will be waived.
Only one person per abstract will receive waived registration. Co-authors and collaborators will not have their registration fee waived.
Are scholarships available for abstract presenters?
There may be a limited number of scholarships available to cover travel and accommodation expenses for early career abstract presenters. You will be prompted during the submission process to check a box if you would like to be considered for this support. To request this support, you are required to submit a statement of need along with your abstract.
Please note that a request for support does not mean automatic selection for a scholarship. Only presenters of accepted abstracts will be eligible for scholarships. Only one scholarship per abstract will be granted. Co-authors and collaborators are not eligible for scholarship. Authors of rejected abstracts are not eligible for scholarship. Scholarships are non-transferrable.
Applicants will be notified if a scholarship will be awarded along with the notification of the acceptance or rejection of their abstracts.
